Phase Two: In-Person Intensive

Phase Two of the Launchpad is a 3 day (24 hours) in-person intensive that digs deeper into intimacy choreography, case studies, and kit practices.

Phase Two: Launchpad In-Person Intensive
May 24 — 26, 2024 in Vancouver, BC

Topics Phase Two covers:

  • Physical positions and vocals/breath work for stage and screen

    • Students will be rotating as directors, Intimacy Professionals, and actors for choreography work. Students will be given an opportunity to clarify their boundaries and work within them.

  • Modesty wear review and application (on dummies)

  • Masking and barriers

  • Roleplaying conversations with actors/directors/producers

  • Mental Health First Aid applications

  • and more!

Investment:

  • Applicants will be invited to pitch a financial investment and an energy exchange they feel confident making

    • There is a an additional fee of $60 / €42 + tax fee for a Modesty Garment Class Kit for all students. Please take this into account when making your financial offer

  • Bursaries available for folks in need

Additional Information:

  • Participants will need to bring gym/yoga clothing (no jeans or shorts), a lunch, and a water bottle

    • Knee pads and a yoga mat recommended

  • Venue: Presentation House Theatre, North Vancouver

  • Maximum of 20 students

Our program is accredited by SAG-AFTRA, meaning our curriculum has been reviewed and approved based on SAG-AFTRA’s accreditation requirements. A syllabus will be shared with all participants before their Phase Two cohort starts.

Application Requirements

  • Complete the Launchpad Onboarding Form for this Phase.

    • The form will ask you for contact information, accessibility needs, and what financial and/or energy investment you are able to offer for the training.

    • A bursary fund is available for folks who cannot make an investment pitch, with priority to IBPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, and disabled folks. Please indicate in your application form if you are in need of financial assistance.

  • Upload your application materials to the Launchpad File Upload Form:

    • A cover letter (2 pages max) or a video/audio clip (3 mins max) describing who you are,  your learning/work journey thus far, your overall goals, and why you’d like to pursue training with PIP

      • For returning students, you do not need to resubmit a cover letter.

    • An updated PDF of your CV/resume that includes any relevant work experience and training

      • For return students, it is optional to upload an updated CV.

      • For students with Phase One equivalent training:

        • CV/resume needs to demonstrate at least 5 years experience working/learning in film/TV or theatre in any role

        • Please list training that includes Mental Health First Aid certification/enrolment, EDI/anti-racism, conflict resolution/mediation, sexual orientation/gender identity, and bystander intervention training obtained within the last five years as per SAG-AFTRA’s qualifications for ICs.

    • A signed NDA, which would be applicable for all Launchpad offerings. Return students who have submitted this do not need to resubmit.

    • For students with Phase One equivalent training, please submit 1-2 reference letters; alternatively, applicants can forward the Launchpad Third Party Reference Form to their references to complete. Return students who have submitted this do not need to resubmit.
