Test Flight: Advanced Choreography Workshop

The Test Flight is a 2-day practical training opportunity for folks working in the industry as Intimacy Professionals, or are well into their training as an IP, by simulating a real set environment, made possible by the generous support of ESCAC.
Prerequisite: Actively working as an IP, or well into your training as an IP.

What the Test Flight offers:
Students will work with actors, a director, a DOP and camera operators, scripts, and two different locations in ESCAC’s studio. This is an excellent opportunity for IPs to test out camera angles, adjust for set designs, and get direct support and feedback from their instructors/peers. There will be three unique sets and each participant will have an opportunity to work on two of them.
On Day 1, participants will conduct rehearsals of their scene with performers, and observe others’ rehearsals with feedback and discussion.
On Day 2, we will simulate private blocking and filming while working with a director (instructor), DOP and camera operators, and actors to “shoot” the scene from different angles, and may be given notes to implement or adjustments, much like a working film set.
There are two cohorts! The first cohort will start rehearsals on Feb 23 and shoot on Feb 24. The second cohort will start rehearsals on Feb 24 and shoot on Feb 25.
Audit Opportunity! There are select opportunities for some participants looking to audit a working IP on set; please specify in your application if you’d prefer to audit than formally participate.
Investment:
Applicants will be invited to pitch a financial investment and an energy exchange they feel confident making.
Additional Information:
Applicants can apply as a solo or duo.
Applicants will need to bring gym/yoga clothing (no jeans or shorts), a lunch, and a water bottle
Venue will be at ESCAC Campus in Terrassa, about 30km outside of Barcelona, Spain.. Address will be shared with accepted applicants.
Maximum of 15 participants per cohort.
The performers will be in modesty wear and various levels of undress depending on the scene needs.
The scenes may be recorded for playback purposes, but will not be edited nor distributed after for use.
This is not a certification course.

Application Requirements
Complete the Test Flight Application Form; it will ask you for contact information, accessibility needs, and what financial and/or energy investment you are able to offer for the training.
A bursary fund is available for folks who cannot make an investment pitch, with priority to IBPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, and disabled folks. Please indicate in your application form if you are in need of financial assistance.

A cover letter (2 pages max) or a video/audio clip (3 mins max) describing who you are, your learning/work journey thus far, your overall goals, and why you’d like to pursue this training with PIP
For returning students, you do not need to resubmit a cover letter.
An updated PDF of your CV/resume that includes any relevant work experience and training
CV/resume needs to demonstrate at least 5 years experience working/learning in film/TV or theatre in any role
Please list training that includes Mental Health First Aid certification/enrolment, EDI/anti-racism, conflict resolution/mediation, sexual orientation/gender identity, and bystander intervention training obtained within the last five years as we will be working on set with a cast and crew.
For return students, it is optional to upload an updated CV.
A signed NDA, which can be found in the Application Form.
Please submit 1-2 reference letters; alternatively, applicants can forward the Third Party Reference Form to their references to complete. Return students who have submitted this do not need to resubmit.
